ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has approved the draft of the electoral reforms bill.
According to the bill, the penalty of bribing voters and casting fake votes has been increased from Rs 5,000 fine to Rs 100,000 minimum.
The fine for illegally occupying polling stations and exceeding the amount allowed for election expenses has been increased to Rs 100,000.
The fee to file nomination papers has been increased form Rs 4,000 to Rs 50,000 while the fee for provincial assembly nomination papers has been increased to Rs 25,000.
The number of political parties registered with the ECP has risen to 227 and election symbols have been allotted to 16 parties. The missile has been given to the political party of Dr AQ Khan as their election symbol.
