Starting the day on 311-1, India was finally bowled out for 503, getting a huge lead of 266 in reply to Australia’s first innings total of 237.
India got to this mammoth total mainly due to the record breaking 2nd wicket stand of 370 between CA Pujara(204) and M Vijay(167). Other contributions came from MS Dhoni (44) and V.Kohli(34).
GJ Maxwell was the pick of the Australian bowlers with figures of 4-127. Left arm spinner XJ Doherty got 3-127.
Australia will start their second innings after tea, facing an uphill task to firstly cancel the deficit and then try to build a substantial lead to put this strong Indian batting line up under pressure.
