LONDON: Malala Yousafzai, the 15-year old girl from Pakistan who was attacked by the Taliban for campaigning for the rights of girls to receive an education, has today been able to go to school for the first time since she was shot in October 2012.
Malala, today attended Edgbaston High School for Girls for her first day back at school. She has joined the girls in Year 9 and will be studying a full curriculum in preparation for selecting her subjects for GCSEs.
Speaking today, Malala said: "I am excited that today I have achieved my dream of going back to school. I want all girls in the world to have this basic opportunity. I miss my classmates from Pakistan very much but I am looking forward to meeting my teachers and making new friends here in Birmingham."
