King administers oath after princess recovers from accident

The Netherlands' King Willem-Alexander on Thursday administered oaths to ministers and state secretaries in a major cabinet reshuffle.

According to a statemen issued by the royal house on Thursday, "The Minister of Infrastructure and Water Management, Minister of Economic Affairs, Minister of Health, Welfare and Sport, State Secretary of Infrastructure and Water Management, State Secretary of Health, Welfare and Sport, State Secretary of Health, Welfare and Sport, and State Secretary of Foreign Affairs will be sworn in before the King at Huis ten Bosch Palace."

The statement said the reason for the new appointments is the resignation on June 3, 2025, of the ministers and state secretaries who were nominated for appointment to the cabinet by the chair of the PVV ( (Partij voor de Vrijheid, or Party for Freedom) faction in the House of Representatives.

King Willem-Alexander is married to Queen Máxima, and they have three daughters: Princess Catharina-Amalia, the Princess of Orange,  Princess Alexia,  Princess Ariane.

The oath taking ceremony comes days after it was reported that Princess Catharina-Amalia broke her arm after she fell from her horse.

The royal was shifted to a hospital where she reportedly underwent a surgery.

According to the local media on Wednesday, the heir to the Dutch throne attended her first royal engagement since the accident with her father holding onto the 58-year-old for guidance.
