Palace shares update after King Charles Christmas card receives criticism

King Charles and Queen Camilla officially released their festive holiday greetings on Sunday as it had begun to “look a lot like Christmas”.

However, there were many who believed that the monarch did not seem ‘festive enough’ for the occasion. Many royal fans expressed their views stating that the team at the Palace could have done better to show a little more cheer for the card.

Following the criticism from fans, the Royal Collection Trust shared a few portraits from the past, suggesting that not every royal portrait for Christmas had been overly festive.

King Charles’s office shared the three historical portraits as “examples” of the “cards they’ve sent or received over the years” as they continued the tradition.

“This card shows George VI with his family, including the first royal corgi, Dookie. It was taken by Marcus Adams in 1938. Underneath the photo each person has signed the card,” it described the first photo Iin the carousel.

The next one had been taken “10 years later Princess Elizabeth’s Christmas card shows her with her young son, Prince Charles, the future King Charles III.”

Finally, “Crown Prince Olav, was King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra’s grandson, and became King Olav V. Captured by celebrated Norwegian photographer Anders Beer Wilse, it is addressed warmly to Queen Mary as ‘aunt May’, for Christmas 1917”.

When the initial photo was shared, fans on social media wrote, “I wish the pictures on the royal families holiday cards, were Christmas themed, and not just a random picture we’ve already seen.”

Another one had suggested that the photo could have at least be taken at Windsor or Sandringham.
