Fresh rumours circulating online are suggesting that Bethesda is on the verge of revisiting two of its most iconic RPGs, claiming that Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas are likely in development.
Although Bethesda has not made an official announcement, the tempting revelation was brought to light by recent backend activity on the gaming platform Steam.
Users on the Fallout subreddit recently observed something unusual regarding specific entries in the Fallout franchise.
One Redditor attempted to post a review for Fallout: New Vegas but was blocked by Steam with an error message stating: “You must wait until this product has been released before writing a review for it.”
It must be noted that this error is typically displayed for unreleased games, and the user noted that Fallout 3 is encountering the same issue. The Reddit user further noted that other titles in the series do not show this error.
When searching for the franchise on Steam, the “Search” bar lists 12 games, yet the results page displays only 10 titles. This gap suggests that hidden content may exist within the store’s backend, as discovered by another Reddit user.
Whatsoever, fans are advised to treat the claims cautiously since they happen to be tentative and hence rumours.
Another noteworthy point is that Steam often comes across such bugs, and commenters pinpointed that unrelated games, such as Batman: Arkham City and Kerbal Space Program, have a history of showing similar “unreleased” error messages.
The game count discrepancy could also stem from region-locked versions or DLC errors.
Despite no official confirmation, the possibility appears to be sending chills down the gaming world, given that Fallout 3 (2008) transformed the series into a massive open-world success.
