Julia Roberts is booked, busy and apparently keeping secrets.

Sony’s 3000 Pictures has officially snapped up the rights to Home Economics, the upcoming novel from bestselling author Katy Hays, and Roberts is already attached to star and produce. Because of course she is.

The project landed at Sony after what insiders describe as a competitive scramble, proving Hollywood will absolutely fight over a mystery before anyone even knows the plot.

In fact, details about the story are still being kept tightly under wraps, which honestly just makes people more obsessed.

Hays, whose debut novel The Cloister became a breakout hit, is adapting the screenplay herself and executive producing. Her latest book Saltwater is already making waves on bestseller lists, while Home Economics won a publishing auction before it’s even hit shelves.

The novel is set to arrive in 2027 through Penguin Random House imprint Pamela Dorman Books and has already sold in 11 international territories.

Behind the scenes, Roberts will produce through Red Om Films alongside longtime collaborators Lisa Roberts Gillan and Marisa Yeres Gill.

Super-producer Marc Platt is also on board, which basically guarantees this project will stay on Hollywood’s radar for the next two years minimum.

As for Roberts? She’s coming off After the Hunt and next heads into Warner Bros. Panic Carefully.

Translation: Julia Roberts is not slowing down anytime soon – and neither is Hollywood’s obsession with twisty book adaptations.
