Michael claimed the crown as top grossing music biopic of all time.

Michael Jackson's biopic knocked Bohemian Rhapsody off the top spot, marking a huge box office milestone.

Hitting the theaters on April 24, the Jaafar Jackson-led film is now the highest-grossing music biopic of all time with $911.9 million worldwide.

According to Deadline it also became the highest-grossing biopic ever domestically.

The film first surpassed 2022's music biopic Elvis, then 2018's Freddie Mercury biopic Bohemian Rhapsody.

However, Michael isn't done making history just yet. The film is now eyeing another major milestone: joining the $1 billion club at the global box office, a feat The Super Mario Galaxy Movie pulled off earlier this month.

That animated sequel still tops the 2026 worldwide box office, with Michael, Project Hail Mary and The Devil Wears Prada 2 closely trailing.

The Antoine Fuqua-directed biopic was developed with the blessing of many of Michael's surviving family members after he died in 2009 at age 50.

It stars the late pop icon’s nephew Jaafar, son of the King of Pop's brother Jermaine, in the titular role.

Juliano Krue Valdi plays a young Michael Jackson, while Colman Domingo portrays his father, Joe Jackson, who managed Michael and his siblings throughout their rise to fame.
