iPhone 18 Ultra launch date revealed as Apple prepares its biggest iPhone event yet

Apple has finally confirmed when it will unveil its next generation of iPhones, and the long-rumored iPhone 18 Ultra could be one of the biggest announcements at the event.

The company will hold its next major launch event on September 9, with Apple expected to introduce the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and its first-ever foldable iPhone. The event will also be the first major Apple product launch under incoming CEO John Ternus.

The foldable model has been widely tipped to be called the iPhone Ultra, although Apple has not confirmed the name.

Unlike previous iPhone launches, Apple is reportedly changing the release schedule this year. The regular iPhone 18 is not expected to arrive alongside the premium models and could instead be pushed to spring 2027.

That means Apple could put its most expensive models front and center in September.

The rumored iPhone Ultra is expected to open into a much larger display, with reports pointing to a screen of around 7.8 inches. When folded, it could have a display of roughly 5.5 inches.

There is also a major difference under the screen. Reports suggest Apple could use Touch ID instead of Face ID on the foldable model because of the space required by its folding design. A two-camera setup has also been tipped.

The price could be another shock.

Current reports have placed the foldable iPhone somewhere around $2,000 to $2,500, although Apple has not confirmed any pricing.

Meanwhile, the iPhone 18 Pro models are expected to receive Apple's next-generation A20 Pro chip and other camera and display upgrades.
