Prince William, Princess Kate key condition for George's photocall at Eton

Prince George was all-smiles as he was accompanied by his proud parents, Prince William and Princess Catherine, walking through the gates to Eton College – 31 years after a young William did so.

It is understood to be an emotional moment was the doting parents, who have broken royal protocol on numerous occasions in order to provide a normal upbringing for their three children.

William and Kate are known to be hands-on parents with particular attention to the privacy of Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. Hence, it did not come as much of a surprise when the Prince and Princess of Wales kept the photo call a low-key matter rather a huge event that occurred for William and Prince Harry when they joined Eton.

“The photocall had been arranged for 11am, half an hour before the rest of his fellow ‘F Blockers’ – Eton shorthand for first year pupils – arrived,” royal editor Rebecca English revealed.

“It is the only time during the next five years George is likely to get any special treatment – and even then the decision was more about protecting the privacy of the other children.”

During a heavy downpour, George arrived with his parents, and confidently greeted headmaster Simon Henderson and college Provost Sir Nicholas Coleridge, who serves as the chairman of the governing body, with firm handshakes.

Kensington Palace later released three portraits of George taken by photographer, Matt Porteous.
