Queen Margrethe returns home with reassuring health update after hospital stay

Queen Margrethe has returned to Fredensborg Palace after being discharged from hospital.

The 86-year-old former monarch was admitted to Rigshospitalet after being unable to attend the funeral of her close friend, King Harald V of Norway.

The Danish Palace confirmed that Margrethe had now left hospital and was back at her residence.

“Her Majesty was discharged from Rigshospitalet this morning and is now back at Fredensborg Palace,” the Palace said.

“Queen Margrethe is well and will take it easy in the coming time.”

The update comes after a period in which the former Queen has faced a number of health setbacks.

She was admitted to hospital in May after experiencing angina and returned to Rigshospitalet a week later.
