Sombr recalls 'absolute shock' at Taylor Swift's nod for songwriting

Sombr looks up to Taylor Swift as a songwriter, so it meant a great deal to him when the pop superstar mentioned him as one of his favourite songwriters.

During a new interview, the 21-year-old musician shared what his reaction was when he found out about the nod.

The back to friends hitmaker said, "Taylor Swift did mention me in an interview. It was crazy. I mean, I woke up, I had all these texts, like, oh my God. I opened my phone and she mentioned me in her New York Times Best Songwriters interview." 

Sombr continued, "She mentioned me, like, girl, this is about you. You don't have to mention me. Thank you, Taylor. That is incredible. You totally didn't have to. Congrats to her for being on the Greatest Songwriters Alive list and she's one of the greatest songwriters of all time and I will always admire her and look up to her. So, thank you."

The Opalite hitmaker's comments went, "I'm a massive Sombr fan of his songwriting and his lyrics are so intensely confessional." 

Elsewhere in the interview, the my body isn't ready singer shared how Swift's invaluable advice changed his perspective on criticism.

“One of the best pieces of advice the legend has given me. The person I look up to most has given me. The amazing pop star. Is that if these hate comments go away, maybe you’re not at your peak anymore. I think it’s a privilege to be receiving these and rise above it. Ever since she gave me that advice, it’s really changed my perspective and has helped," noted Sombr.
