ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari Friday chaired a high-level meeting at the Aiwan-e-Sadr to review the situation after Supreme Court of Pakistan rendered the contempt of court law null & void, Geo News reported.
According to sources, the meeting, after in-depth deliberation, decided that there would be no compromise on the powers of legislature, come what may.
"Allies are ready to pay any price to preserve Parliament's prerogative to legislate", the government vowed.
Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf, PML-Q chief Chaudhry Shujaat, Deputy Prime Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, MQM’s Dr Farooq Sattar, Babar Ghouri, ANP’s Haji Adeel, Afrasiab Khattak, Munir Orakzai, and BNP’s Israrullah Zehri attended the meeting.
The sources added that though consultations on government’s next line of action in the wake of this new development topped the meeting agenda but current national affairs also came under discussion.
