Abbasi granted bail in ephedrine case
RAWALPINDI:The Rawalpindi bench of the Lahore High Court on Thursday granted bail to PML-N lawmaker Hanif Abbasi in ephedrine case, Geo News reported.

A division bench, comprising Justice Saghir Qadri and Justice Ali Baqir granted the bail against the two separate surety bonds of Rs 500,000.

During the hearing his bail plea, Mr Abbasi counsel told the bench that his client appeared before the Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) and produced all the concerning record, adding that the allegations against his client of using ephedrine quota in making medicines were not correct.

On this, the court granted the bail to Nawaz-League’s MNA who was earlier on interim bail. Moreover, the LHC bench also granted bail to a former Drug Controller Sheikh Ansar Ahmed and an employee of a pharmaceutical company Nadeem Ahmed against the surety bonds of Rs 500, 000 each.

The army-led ANF has been probing a case pertaining to acquirement of illegal quota of ephedrine (a controlled substance), also involving Ali Musa Gilani, a son of former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani.
