KARACHI: Police have set free two policemen, allegedly involved in extortion, from Mehmoodabad police station, Geo news reported Monday.
According to the report, the policemen were allegedly demanding extortion money from shopkeepers and owners of hotels in Mehmoodabad after which the shopkeepers tortured the police personnel and later shifted them to Mehmoodabad police station.
The shopkeepers and the hotel owners gathered outside the Mehmoodabad police station and submitted the application for registering an FIR against the police personnel.
The sources claimed that both the accused policemen were set free by the duty officer.
However, a duty officer deployed in the police station denied that any policemen were shifted there.
The officer while talking to media said that he has received the application from the shopkeepers, adding that action in this regard would be taken on Monday.
