ISLAMABAD: PML-N deputy secretary general, Ahsan Iqbal has claimed that PPP, PML-Q and MQM had gained support of banned outfit Sipah-e-Sahaba in past elections, Geo News reported.
Addressing a press conference here Tuesday, Ahsan Iqbal said, in 2002 PML-Q and MQM formed government with Sipah-e-Sahaba and got released Maulana Azam Tariq from jail to cast vote in support of Zafarullah Jamali as prime minister.
He said electoral alliance with MQM is not possible.
PML-N leader further said that in 1996, PPP formed government with Sipah-e-Sahaba in Punjab and also provided ministry to its candidate.
Mian Nawaz Sharif was attacked over effective operation against sectarian outfits in 1997, he added.
