KARACHI: In different incidents of firing across the metropolis nine people lost their lives, including two rangers intelligence personnel, one policeman and two missing persons, Geo News reported.
According to sources, two bodies bearing torture marks were found from Mewa Shah Colony area of Pak Colony. The victims were identified as Rangers personnel, Munir Baloch and Aijaz Ahmed, who were abducted from Lyari on Wednesday. Both the personnel belonged to Field Security Wing and were on intelligence duty. They were subjected to torture before being shot dead, sources added.
Meanwhile, unknown gunmen ambushed a passenger bus in Gulshan-e-Ghazi area of Baldia Town that killed a man who was identified as Javed. The victim was a factory worker and police said that the incident seemed to be a result of enmity. His body was shifted to Civil Hospital for medico-legal formalities.
Two persons lost their lives when unidentified assailants opened firing in Pak Colony and Gulistan-e-Jauhar.
The man killed in Bhitaiabad area of Gulistan-e-Jauhar was identified as Mehram Chand who was a policeman.
Earlier, two strangled bodies were found from Khairabad area near Manghopir Northern by-pass with their names, Babu Iftikhar and Maqbool, written on a slip. Sources told that the deceased had been kidnapped from District Panjgor of Balochistan province and belonged to Kakaan area. Their names were part of missing persons’ list, sources informed.
Meanwhile, Rangers have secured the release of four hostages and held 8 suspects during the operation being executed in various areas of Lyari where 4 people have also sustained injuries in firing.
According to sources, as many as 1000 Rangers' personnel took part in the operation flanked by over a dozen Armoured Personnel Carriers (APC). Twenty-two entry and exit points to Lyari have been sealed by Rangers personnel.
Eight people have been arrested during the operation which was launched in the wake of the kidnapping of two Rangers intelligence personnel identified as Munir Baloch and Aijaz Ahmed followed by their murder. Their tortured bodies were recovered earlier today.
Protests were also witnessed in several areas of the locality against the operation in Moosa Lane, Phool Patti Lane, Baghdadi, Dubai Chowk, Cheel Chowk, Lee Market, and Ath Chowk against criminals and gangsters of Lyari.
