ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) met here on Friday to discuss nominees for the upcoming presidential election.
During the meeting six nominees were shortlisted by the party. The nominees include Sartaj Aziz, Ghaus Ali Shah, Mamnoon Hussain, Iqbal Zafar Jhagra, Sardar Mehtab Abbasi and Justice (retd) Saeed-uz-Zaman Siddiqui. Out of the six nominees, three are from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and three from Sindh.
A five member committee was also formed to hold consultations with other parties over the presidential nominee. The committee will be comprised of Chaudhry Nisar, Shahbaz Sharif, Khawaja Asif, Ahsan Iqbal and Saad Rafique.
The presidential election will be held on August 6; however the government has approached the Election Commission of Pakistan for a change in the schedule.
