ISLAMABAD: The gunman responsible for the Islamabad standoff, Malik Sikander was indicted by an anti terrorism court here on Wednesday.
During proceedings, Sikander along with his wife Kanwal and weapons supplier Akhtar were indicted. All three accused denied the charges leveled against them.
On August 15, Sikander armed with rifles drove to Jinnah Avenue minutes away for the country’s parliament and fired on the police starting a standoff. Sikander was accompanied by his wife and two children.
Sikander was arrested six hours later after the intervention of PPP leader Zamrud Khan. The gunman was injured after receiving bullet wounds from security personnel.
