Video on social media exposes humiliation of woman by policeman

KARACHI: A video trending on social media revealed a shocking incident of public humiliation and brutality against a woman at the hands of a policeman in Karachi.

The video clip shows a woman, accused of an alleged theft, being violently forced to confess to the crime right in front of a child, in addition to a crowd looking over in the background.

According to the video, the woman was being slapped on the face aggressively multiple times, and was verbally abused in highly cursive foul language loudly in front of the public including the child.

The audio also reveals the policeman saying, “Now I will see how she does not confess to the theft and does not return the stolen items.”




Following the exposure of the video on social media to bring to light this horrific incident, efforts are being made to identify and apprehend the policeman.

Upon further investigation, sources have told Geo News the incident took place in Clifton’s Gulf Shopping Center and that the woman was accused of stealing jewelry.

Furthermore, the torturer who has been identified as Akbar, is a national volunteer of the police.

Sources added that the case against the woman for alleged theft had been registered at Clifton police station.

CM Sindh takes notice

Following the Geo News report of the shocking video, Chief Minister Sindh, Qaim Ali Shah has taken notice of the incident and has also asked for a report from the IG Sindh.

The CM Sindh has questioned how a police personnel dared to raise his hand on a woman.
