Younis Khan makes it to 9,000 runs club in test cricket

KARACHI: Pakistan’s master batsman Younis Khan on Saturday achieves another milestone, as he scores 9,000 runs in his test cricket career and becomes the first Pakistani cricketer to have hit this mark and secured 14th slot in the world.
Younis Khan joined the 9000-or-more-test-runs club during his 71 not out against England in the second Test in Dubai today.
The 37-year-old achieved the milestone when he reached 47 during the knock on the third afternoon. Younis Khan accomplished the record in his 103rd test and 184th innings.
Earlier, this month he had surpassed Javed Miandad by breaking his record of 8,832 runs in test cricket.
In cricket test cricket history only 14 players had achieved the mark of 9000 or more runs in their careers. Three of them are Australian cricketers including Ricky Ponting (13,378 runs), Allan Border (11,174 runs) and Steve Waugh (10,927 runs).
Similarly three players of India are part of the top 14 list. They are: Sachin Tendulkar (15,921 runs), Rahul Dravid (13,288 runs) and Sunil Gavaskar (10,122 runs).
Two batsmen of South Africa have also made it to the top 14 rank list including Jacques Kallis (13,289 runs) and Graeme Smith (9,265 runs).
Brian Lara (11,953 runs) and Shivnarine Chanderpaul (11,867 runs) of West Indies while Kumar Sangakkara (12,400 runs) and Mahela Jayawardene (11,814 runs) of Sri Lanka are also among the top scorers.
Alastair Cook of England is also among the top runners list with 9,658 runs.
