PM rejects OGRA’s summary for hike in petroleum prices

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Thursday rejected the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority’s (OGRA) summary suggesting hike in petroleum prices for the month of May.

“Petroleum prices won’t be increased in May,” PM Nawaz said while addressing a rally in Mansehra. “Not increasing petrol prices will cause the government losses of up to Rs8 billion but we have decided not to worry about that,” he added.

The premier’s address was scheduled during the ground breaking event of the Havelian Thakot section of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

The 120-kilometer long section will be completed in 42 months at a cost of Rs 133.98 billion. The road will originate from Havelian and, after passing through Abbottabad, Mansehra, and Shinkiari, will end at Thakot.

PM Nawaz also inaugurated two gas supply projects in Mansehra.
