Nanga Parbat base camp attackers shifted to Islamabad

GILGIT: Three alleged terrorists accused of killing tourists at a Nanga Parbat base camp were transferred to Islamabad on Friday.

The suspects were brought to Islamabad by a Pakistan International Airline flight PK606, sources said. They will be transferred to Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi.

The alleged terrorists are also wanted for sectarian crimes by security forces, sources said.

In 2013 terrorists attacked a Nanga Parbat base camp killing 11 people including 10 foreign tourists.

 The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan claimed responsibility of the attack. Those killed included tourists from China, Ukraine and Russia.

The men, who attacked and executed foreign tourists and a Pakistani attendant, were wearing Gilgit Scouts uniforms.  

The Himalayas in northern Pakistan offer some of the most spectacular climbing in the world. Its peaks are a magnet for experienced mountaineers.
