Azhar Ali returns to Pakistan after disastrous England ODI series

LAHORE: Pakistan's One-Day International (ODI) skipper Azhar Ali returned to Pakistan after a disastrous limited-over series against England.

He reached Lahore in the wee hours of Sunday via a private airline flight.

Azhar also avoided any communication with media on the airport.

Earlier, reports had surfaced which said that the ODI captain had decided to step down.

However, sources told Geo News that ODI captain had refused to step down and also informed chairman PCB Shahryar Khan about his decision.

Pakistan started off the England tour with a memorable win in Lord’s Test, but lost the two following Test before fighting back to win the last Test to level the four-match series 2-2.

However, the five-match ODI series turned out to be a nightmare for Azhar Ali and co where the home team outclassed visitors by 4-1.

Sarfraz eleven salvaged some pride by outclassing England in the only Twenty20, ending the tour on the high.
