PESHAWAR: Director General Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Lt Gen Asim Saleem Bajwa said during a press briefing on Tuesday that Pakistan’s military was monitoring developments on the eastern border, adding that they were prepared for any incident.

“Pakistan has always acted responsibly,” Gen Bajwa said.

He added that charges leveled by India over the Uri attack were upsetting and Pakistan had never accused anyone without concrete evidence.

DG ISPR said that the Rajgal mountains have been cleared of terrorists and the Pakistan Army is in full control of the Pak-Afghan border in the region.

He said posts are being built along the border in Rajgal and the Pakistan Army is present in the valley. Work over 20 posts for border management has been completed, he added.

Gen Bajwa said that a special operational meeting was held following Chief of Army Staff Gen Raheel Sharif’s return from Germany.

Combing operations had improved security situation in the country; 1,470 combing operations have been carried out in KPK and FATA, he said.

Discussing recent terrorist attacks in Pakistan, Gen Bajwa said the Mardan court suicide bomber was brought from Afghanistan from the Torkham border. 12 people were martyred in the Mardan blast earlier this month.

Gen Bajwa produced facilitators in the Mardan blast before the media and said the noose was tightening around the accomplices involved in the attack. He said some women had also been arrested for facilitating in the attack and would be tried according to the law.

Gen Bajwa said the attack in Christian colony in Warsak had been planned in Afghanistan as well. He added that information was being shared with the Afghan government, army and intelligence agencies.

The DG ISPR said that the deadline for return of TDPs is in November and 70% of the work on this matter has been completed.

He further said implementation on NAP requires hard work.
