Yasin Malik kept in inhuman conditions by Indian Army, wife alleges

ISLAMABAD: Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front leader Yasin Malik’s wife Mishal Malik in a press conference held on Saturday said that her husband’s condition was not stable.

She alleged that the Indian Army had kept him in a narrow cubicle where he was denied access to medical treatment or drinking water.

“The Indian Army has not let Yasin take his medicines or eat food for one and a half months now. He has not had a drop of water to drink since the last six days,” she said.

She added that her husband had developed a stone in his kidney.

Mishal alleged that no one was being allowed to meet her husband. “The Indian Army wants the Hurriyat leadership to die a little every day.”

She appealed international human rights organizations to focus on Kashmir.

“The Kashmiris do not have any weapons. It is only their spirit for freedom which keeps them going,” she said.

She said that India had wronged the Kashmiris for decades now. “After Burhan Wani’s death the freedom movement has begun with renewed vigour.”

JKLF leader Yasin Malik has been in Indian custody for over a month.

At least 115 civilians have been killed and thousands injured in street clashes with the Indian security forces, who have been criticised by human rights groups for using excessive force including shotguns that fire pellets that have blinded people.
