Target killing raises its head again in Karachi

Ban on pillion riding would also be imposed in the city from 6pm on Saturday

KARACHI: The menace of target killing raised its head again in the southern metropolis on Friday when two lost their lives while three others were injured in separate incidents in Gulistan-e-Johar, Federal B Area and Gulshan-e-Iqbal.

According to police, the killing in Federal B Area is being viewed as a result of resisting during an armed holdup but sources privy to the details of the fatal shot suspect otherwise. Meanwhile the killing In Gulistan-e-Johar has been ruled as a target killing.

Inspector General Sindh Police A.D. Khawaja took serious notice of the incidents and ordered inquiries into the killings as well as timely arrest of the culprits involved.

Pillion riding ban

Starting from 6PM today (Saturday) pillion riding will be banned in Karachi till Thursday. IG Sindh stressed that the ban is part of security arrangements for the holy month of Muharram.
