Indian forces continue unprovoked firing, shelling across LoC

RAWALPINDI: Indian forces resorted to unprovoked firing across the Line of Control yet again on Friday evening, the third such breach of the ceasefire across the LoC and working boundary in a single day.

Pakistani troops responded with a befitting response, the ISPR said, as firing continued at the time of filing of this report.

"Indians yet again resorted to unprovoked firing at Karela sector at LoC at 2055 hrs. Befitting response being given by Pakistani troops. Firing was continuing till filing of this report," said the Pakistani military's media wing.

Indian Border Security forces opened unprovoked firing and shelling across the LoC twice earlier today, but no loss of life or property was reported on the Pakistani side.

The first incident took place this morning, when Indian forces opened fire across the working boundary in Shakargarh sector, north of Chak Amroo village. Pakistan Rangers Punjab befittingly responded to the Indian firing. Exchange of fire continued from 9 am to 9:30 am, the ISPR said.

Rejecting any Indian claims of any casualties, DG ISPR Lieutenant General Asim Bajwa confirmed that there was no loss of life or property on the Pakistani side.

Later during the day, Indian force resorted to unprovoked firing at the LoC in Keral sector. Pakistani troops befittingly yet again.

Following the latest breach of the ceasefire agreement, firing was continuing across the LoC at the time of filing of this report.

Earlier this week at least one civilian was martyred and five others wounded as a result of continuing unprovoked firing and shelling by Indian forces across the LoC. India has violated the LoC more than 90 times this year, according to Pakistan's foreign office spokesman Nafees Zakaria.

Tensions between the two nuclear-armed South Asian neighbours have escalated following the Uri attack in Indian occupied Kashmir.

On September 29, India claimed to have carried out 'surgical strikes' across the LoC in which two Pakistani soldiers were martyred. Pakistan dismissed the claims of the surgical strikes. India has so far failed to provide any proof of any such strikes.
