LONDON: Killers of British Pakistani barrister Fahad Malik are enjoying luxurious lifestyle in Adiala jail with help from the jail administration and have access to facilities such as mobile phones, laptops and wifi internet, Fahad’s brother Jawad Sohrab Malik has alleged.

In an interview here, Jawad Sohrab Malik appealed to Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif to take notice of the violation of jail rules and the alleged collusion of jail authorities with the murder accused Nauman Khokhar, Raja Arshad and Hashim Khan.

Jawad Sohrab Malik said that Nauman Khokhar (Nomi Khokhar) Hashim Khan and Raja Arshad have been updating their Facebook profiles from jail and have been in contact with their cronies.

“They have their cronies visiting them round the clock and they have unlimited access to telephones, internet and wifi. Normally there are strict visiting times and no communication is allowed inside the jail. But killers of my brother are enjoying a life of luxury inside the jail. These people are members of a notorious mafia who are known for penetrating the jail system. We would like to bring this in the notice of chief minister Punjab Shehbaz Sharif and we will request him to initiate an inquiry into this matter. The murder accused are heavily rich and corruption and bribery in our institutional system is a known fact. We don’t blame anyone in particular but senior officials in charge for jails in Punjab at the top level are involved in corruption.”

Jawad Sohrab Malik said that it was injustice to the victim and his family and allowing the killers to run rings around the system and dictate the course of law is a huge injustice. The killers have no care in the world.”

Barrister Fahad Malik, nephew of former caretaker Prime Minister and ex Chairman Senate Mian Muhammad Soomro and son of renowned Islamabad businessman Sohrab Khan Malik, was killed in the federal capital on the night of 14 August 2016 when the accused Nauman Khokhar and Raja Arshad sprinkled bullets on his car near Shalimar Police Station where he had gone in his professional capacity in order to finalise a deed to mediate a case between two parties.

Jawad Sohrab Malik, who is running campaign to get justice for his brother, said he has known the Punjab Chief Minister as a man of action who doesn’t tolerate corruption and takes action against outlaws.

“I will appeal to Shehbaz Sharif to look into this matter and investigate. Nauman Khokhar and Raja Arshad are being tried under the anti-terrorism laws, they are not one of those ordinary criminals. They must not be allowed to play the system. Raja Arshad was caught while trying to flee to Afghanistan, he has connections with outlaws inside Afghanistan who were there to receive him with heavy protocol.”

Jawad Sohrab Malik, speaking from his residence in Kinghtsbridge, said Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan was extremely helpful to the victim family and ensured that the killers are arrested but Nisar can act at the federal level and not the provincial.

Jawad Sohrab Malik said: “Nauman Khokhar and Raja Arshed are using tactics to dump the murder of my brother on one of their guards or drivers by compensating them with tens of millions of Rupees. There is a huge conspiracy in place already and this is happening from inside the Adiala jail.”

On Friday, the judicial remand of three men accused of murdering Barrister Fahad Malik was extended till December 21.

All the three accused Raja Arshad, Nauman Khokhar and Hashim Khan were presented before the anti-terrorism court (ATC) but their likely indictment was postponed as judge hearing the murder case was on leave.

Using illegal Kalashnikovs brought from Rawalpindi, the gangsters fired on Fahad Malik six times on the main Margalla Road, killing him on the spot and then indiscriminately fired on the car in celebration.

Jawad Sohrab Malik, a British Pakistani businessman, is in London these days meeting parliamentarians to raise awareness about the murder of his brother in Islamabad. Jawad Malik runs businesses spanning London, Dubai and Pakistan in areas of real estate development, general trading and information technology.
