LAHORE: With just a week to go before the final of the Pakistan Super League 2017, the Punjab government is yet to announce a formal decision on whether the finale will be hosted in Lahore or not.

Punjab Minister for Information Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman, speaking to media on Sunday, said the final decision in this regard will be taken within the next one or two days, once security clearance is obtained.

“Security clearance is crucial for holding the PSL final in Lahore,” the provincial minister stressed.

Shuja-ur-Rehman further said that Chief Minister Punjab Shehbaz Sharif wants the final of the tournament to be held in Lahore.

The Punjab leadership is currently working on making the situation compatible for the final to be held in Lahore, the minister elaborated.

The Punjab Apex Committee met on Sunday to review the efforts being made by civil and military forces to combat terrorists and their facilitators in the province. The committee meeting, comprised of top civil and military leadership and presided over by CM Shehbaz Sharif, decided to enhance efforts against terrorism.

CM Shehbaz said the Pakistan Army is fully capable of dealing with internal and external challenges and expressed hope that terrorism will completely end with the recently initiated Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad.

The apex committee was also expected to review the security for the PSL final, which is scheduled to be held at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore on March 5. However, no decision regarding it has been announced as of yet.
