ISLAMABAD: A full dress rehearsal for the Pakistan Day parade is currently underway at the Shakarparian ground in the federal capital, Geo News reported.

Contingents of the Pakistan Armed Forces are taking part in the rehearsal for the March 23 parade, which will see participation of three international forces this year.

According to reports, mobile phone services in Rawalpindi and Islamabad will remain suspended from 6am to 1pm due to the rehearsal.

Islamabad traffic police has also released the traffic plan for March 23 and rehearsal days. The route from Zero Point to Faizabad road will be closed from 6am to 1pm every day.

People's Liberation Army (PLA) China’s Tri-Services and Saudi Special Force’s contingents and Turkish Janissary Military band (Mehteran) are set to take part in the Pakistan Day parade, the ISPR said earlier this month.

Among other dignitaries, Chief of South African National Defence Force, General Solly Zacharia Shoke will also witness the parade.

Pakistan Day is a national holiday to commemorate the Lahore Resolution of March 23, 1940, when the Muslim League drafted the political resolution calling for establishing an independent federation.
