KARACHI. Another Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader jumped ship and joined Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP).

MPA Sheikh Abdullah, who was elected from PS-97, joined Mustafa Kamal-led PSP. Abdullah also announced his resignation from the Sindh Assembly during a press conference in Nishtar Park on Wednesday.  Abdullah was joined by other PSP leaders including Kamal, Anis Qaimkhani and Raza Haroon.

“I don’t want to betray the country. I have no sympathy for people who want to divide the country,” said Abdullah while speaking at the occasion. “No one other than PSP can solve the problems of Karachi and Hyderabad,” he added.

“When whatever we say is proven right then people come towards us,” said Kamal.

The PSP chief also announced that party will celebrate its foundation’s day celebration on Pakistan Day, March 23. “Tonight we celebrate and tomorrow there is a party convention,” remarked Kamal, adding that the convention will be held 3pm onwards.

Since the PSP burst onto Karachi’s political scene last year, many important MQM workers and leaders have joined it including MPA Dr Sagheer Ahmed, MPA Iftikhar Alam, Waseem Aftab, ex-senator Mohammad Ali Brohi, MPA Bilquis Mukhtar, Iftikhar Akbar Randhawa, Shakir Ali, Naik Muhammad and Saleem Tajik.
