Medical report confirms burn wounds on child maid recovered from Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Over seven burn wounds were found on minor child maid Saima who was recovered from a house in Sector E-11/3 in an injured condition, medical reports confirmed.

A six-member medical board at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) examined the teenage girl on Friday, told police in its report, that there were torture marks on her chest. Her neck and back bear burn marks, while her ankles are swollen.

The medical board also confirmed that five to 10 centimeter of hair were cut forcibly, adding that the girl’s mental state was stable.

On Sunday, the 12-year-old girl told police in her statement that she was brought from Kharian four years ago to work at her employer’s house. The beatings began two began two months into her employment adding that her employer Almas, her daughter Amna, son Muhammed Ahmed and an employee Bashir would regularly beat her up.

She said that on March 16, Ahmed, used a branding iron to burn her shoulders and left arm, and then lashed her with a belt, for not cleaning the house properly.

Finding an opportunity to escape the girl climbed over the boundary wall and jumped into the neighbour’s house who then informed the police.
