IG FC Balochistan visits houses of Afghan shelling victims

CHAMAN: IG Frontier Corps Balochistan Major General Nadeem Anjum on Monday visited the areas along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, including Kali Luqman and Kali Jahangir which came under Afghan shelling early last month.

Major General Anjum visited the houses of the affectees and congratulated them on returning home. He also distributed gifts among children.

Later he visited Army and FC troops stationed at posts in Kali Luqman and celebrated Eid with them. The IG said that the troops are celebrating Eid with simplicity on the directions of the army chief.

Sector Commander Brigadier Nadeem Sohail briefed Major General Anjum of fencing being done along the border as well as progress on coordination with Afghan authorities.

At least 11 people were martyred and 46 injured early Friday when Afghan border forces opened fire at FC Balochistan soldiers deployed for security of census team near the Chaman border on May 5.

Over 50 Afghan soldiers were killed and more than 100 injured when Pakistan retaliated to the unprovoked firing and shelling.

Following the tensions, the friendship gate between both the countries on the Chaman border, Bab-e-Dosti was also closed after 20 days.
