ISLAMABAD: Following former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Ayesha Gulalai’s bold statements over leaving the party, senior politicians and analysts expressed their views over the shocking development.

Pakistan People’s Party Senator Sherry Rehman took to Twitter to express her views, saying: "Gulalai's rebuke adds to the disquiet about a woman's place in the party."

Geo News senior analyst Talat Hussain said that Ayesha Gulalai presented a damning allegation, despite knowing the repercussions . He said that the issue could be due to the matter of party tickets’ distribution as raised by PTI spokesman Naeem-ul-Haq as well.

He said the former PTI worker made personal as well as political comments, adding that it is hard for women to make personal statements over the issue of party tickets.

PTI leader Asad Umar, however, in a media talk rebutted the allegations, saying accusations that women in the party are not respected are wrong.

PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto said that the allegations by the former PTI MNA should be investigated.

He said that the PPP will never compromise over the safety and dignity of women.

Senior anchorperson Geo News Shahzeb Khanzada said that Imran Khan now needs to take these allegations seriously. He said that it is quite a big issue that women have been leaving the PTI, earlier it was Naz Baloch, who called the PTI a male chauvinist party.

PPP leader Shehla Raza said that her party was the first party to introduce a women’s wing. She said that Gulalai’s statements took her by surprise and she admires how Ayesha Gulalai is an educated party worker who raised her voice.

Earlier in the day, PTI MNA Ayesha Gulalai announced that she is leaving the party.

Gulalai alleged that the reason for her leaving the party was that the honour of women was not safe.

“Party chairman Imran Khan is the reason that the honour of mothers and sisters of Pakistan is not safe.”

The MNA said that Article 62 and 63 of the Constitution should also be applicable on morally corrupt people.
