After Sammy, Zalmi's Chris Jordan tweets in Pashto

KARACHI: After West Indian Darren Sammy, England’s Peshawar Zalmi cricketer Chris Jordan has also opted to post a tweet in Pashto, adding to the excitement ahead of the third season of Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Jordan, who has played 8 Tests and 31 ODIs for England, was among the four Zalmi players who visited Pakistan earlier this year to play the final of Pakistan Super League.

The 29-year-old bowler connected with Peshawar Zalmi fans on Thursday with a post in Pashto.

“Salamoona Zalmi's , Sanga Chal de taso bekhi hair kari yu. Bas tyaryanay kawi ka khair da psl 3 dapara. O Pekhawar la ba zaroor darzam ! Zalmi Zindabad.”

According to Peshawar Zalmi’s owner Javed Afridi, “Salamoona” is usually said in highest friendly manner.

He further translated Jordan’s tweet as saying “How are you? Seems you’ve forgotten us. Get yourself ready for PSL3. And yes, this time I will surely visit Peshawar.”

The tweet ends with saying Zalmi Zindabad, meaning “Long live Zalmi”.

Javed Afridi further added that players’ tweets in the regional language is a way to connect directly with fans.

“This gives a message that Peshawar Zalmi owns the culture it represents,” Afridi said while talking to this correspondent.
