LAHORE: A man, identified as 20-year-old Muhammad Arshad, was burnt alive for allegedly snatching a mobile phone in Lahore’s Nawab Town on Saturday.

According to the police, two brothers, Jahangir and Mannan, had alleged that Arshad stole their mobile phone, following which a fight broke out between them. The area residents intervened and pacified the matter.

However, the brothers kept their grudge and when they got an opportunity threw Kerosene on him and then set him on fire.

Arshad was immediately shifted to Jinnah Hospital. According to the doctors, Arshad has sustained burn wounds on his arms and face.

The police have taken Jahangir into custody, while Mannan is still on the run.

On January 29, a robber was burnt alive by residents in Landhi's Babar Market after being caught red-handed, a spokesman from Sindh Police informed.

The armed robber tried to loot a milk shop in the early hours of the morning but was caught by the residents. The residents then surrounded the robber and tortured him, after which they set him on fire, the spokesman said.
