KARACHI: Pakistan cricket team captain Sarfaraz Ahmed has admitted that his place can be in danger if he fails to deliver.

Speaking with media on the book launching ceremony of noted sports journalist Saleem Khaliq, Sarfaraz said he would consider stepping down himself as Test captain if he felt he is the reason for Pakistan’s defeat.

“Who will keep me if I won’t be able to produce positive results,” Sarfaraz said when asked if he will step down if team fails to do well in South Africa.

The young wicket-keeper and batsman said that the team must learn from its mistakes.

He added that Pakistan could have easily won the Test series against New Zealand which the team lost due to its own mistakes.

“We must overcome these mistakes which cost us games in UAE against New Zealand, this was the series we should have won,” he said.

He stressed on playing positive and fearless cricket against South Africa.

“It will be a difficult series, we will have to go there with a positive mindset and play fearless cricket without allowing opponents to overpower us,” he said.

He also brushed aside the impression that Rizwan’s inclusion can put added pressure on him.

“There’s no pressure, this is not the first time we are playing with an additional wicket keeper. He has also played in past with me, even Umar Akmal has also played along me in the team, so there is no question of pressure,” he said.

He praised Yasir Shah and hoped that the leg-spinner will continue to bring more laurels for Pakistan cricket in future.
