ISLAMABAD: The Senate Secretariat objected to the opposition’s requisition on Sunday against Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani.

In its objection, the Senate Secretariat asked the opposition to give an explanation about its requisition as it had submitted two requisitions.

At the same time, action on two requisitions with similar signatures stands against rules, as per the Secretariat's objection.

The Secretariat wrote a letter to Leader of the Opposition in the Senate Sherry Rehman in which it had raised objection.

Sherry Rehman said that the Senate Secretariat should play an impartial role, asking the reason behind raising objection after passing of four days.

The Senator called the move by the Secretariat a part of ‘delaying tactics’, saying that the opposition parties will make it unsuccessful.

On July 10, the opposition submitted a resolution of no-confidence against Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani to the Senate Secretariat.

Following which, nine political parties of the opposition-led Rahbar Committee named Hasil Bizenjo as the joint candidate for the post of Senate chairman.

Pakistan Muslim League-N supremo Nawaz Sharif approved the name of National Party’s Hasil Bizenjo as sources informed that the former prime minister made the decision in order to procure favour for Balochistan.

The 11-member opposition's anti-government Rahbar committee had announced its consensus to remove the Senate chairman.
