LONDON: Founder and leader of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Altaf Hussain has unequivocally stated that there was no place for criminal elements in the party.
He said that the MQM was a peace loving political party that believes in democratic principles and peaceful struggle, hence there was no room for criminals in it. The MQM chief said this while talking to the members of Co-ordination Committee.
Hussain said that the MQM was against violence, terrorism, corruption and criminal activities. MQM workers and office-bearers that were found involved in any type of criminal activity had been publicly expelled from the party after thorough investigation and inquiry.
He said that Muttahida was also a part of society and there were good and people in the society. He added the MQM was the only political party that purged the elements involved in criminal activities from its rank and file. Personal act of any expelled workers cannot be ascribed to the party.
Hussain said that discipline was the hallmark of MQM hence no leniency should be shown to anyone, even if he was a member of the Co-ordination Committee. There was no place for criminals in the MQM yesterday and there is no place for such elements even today and in the future.
