David Letterman angered Indian fans after he poked fun at Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan

US TV icon David Letterman has been getting ensnared within controversies lately over his past contentious interview with celebrities.

While his old interviews circulate on the web, the 73-year-old is getting slammed over his chat with Bollywood star Aishwarya Rai as well.

The talk show host riled up Indian fans after he tried to poke fun at the actor and her husband Abhishek Bachchan for still living with his parents—a tradition not too uncommon in South Asia.

His condescending question about whether or not she still lives with her parents and if this is common in India, received a befitting response from her.

“It’s fine to live with your parents, because It’s also common in India, we don’t have to take appointments from the parents to meet for dinner,” Aishwarya fired back.

The patronizing question slighting Indian tradition was also heavily criticized on Twitter as many lashed out at him.
