KARACHI: The Cyber Crime Wing of the Federal Investigation Agency is investigating the hacking of Geo News’ official website.

The website was hacked on Sunday evening and the group’s IT experts successfully recovered it within an hour.

According to the Geo/Jang web administrator, the website was hacked at approximately 7:30 PM and the home page was replaced by the hackers’ message.

The message was in support of Axact, the company which is facing criminal proceedings due to the fake degree scandal. In the message the hackers’ complained that swift action was taken against Axact on the basis of a report in a foreign newspaper. Immediately after the report an investigation was launched, raids were conducted and even the arrest of the company’s owner was swift, the message stated.

Referring to Axact, the hackers’ wrote that accusations against the company had not been proven.

In their message, the hackers have written the names of Nawaz Sharif, Asif Ali Zardari, Altaf Hussain and other political leaders pointing out how the system was run wrongly during their governments, yet action was never taken against their wrongdoings. There is no coverage of how these leaders have looted the people, it said.

The hackers’ in the message said they would like to know why the Pakistani media was also spreading negativity and not bringing Pakistan’s achievements to the public. According to the hackers’ Bollywood seemed to be more important for the media which was not acknowledging Pakistan’s many success stories and beautiful places.
