ISLAMABAD: Opposition Leader in National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan Monday said the government should derive strength from the Parliament and not by 'holding a meeting with the Army Chief or DG ISI', Geo News reported.
Speaking during a National Assembly session, Chaudhry Nisar said any unconstitutional move would be jointly thwarted.
He said the ministers instead of focusing on matters of their relevant ministries appeared more like personal doctors of the President. "The ministers are engaged in making their jobs secure and they have no interest whatsoever in the people's problems."
The Opposition leader said the memo case had baffled the government and the Prime Minister had to hold a meeting with the Army Chief to rebuild government's confidence.
He regretted that although the memo case was in the court, the Prime Minister termed it a non-issue. He said the Prime Minister should explain it before the court.
"If the memogate is a non-issue, then it is that the Army Chief was called in on the matter?" he questioned.
He further asked that if Prime Minister had been convinced with the American general's statement, why not the DG ISI and Army Chief.
