Lisicki to captain Germany against Czechs

BERLIN: Wimbledon semi-finalist Sabine Lisicki will lead Germany against defending Fed Cup champions the Czech Republic in next month's World Group first-round tie, it was announced on Wednesday.

With Germany's top female Andrea Petkovic out with a back injury, Lisicki, 22 and ranked 14th in the world, will lead the team against the Czechs in Stuttgart on February 4-5, Germany captain Barbara Rittner announced.

Julia Goerges, Angelique Kerber and doubles specialist Anna-Lena Groenefeld are also included in the line-up to face the Czech team, which will be led by world number two Petra Kvitova. (AFP)
