LAHORE: The electricity shortfall has reached 6,000 MW which has led to an increase in unannounced loadshedding. According to PEPCO, electricity generation is 10,814 MW while demand is 16,814 MW. Despite the shortfall KESC is being supplied 690 MW.
The spokesman for PEPCO claims that electricity generation has decreased due to the low quantity of furnace oil.
Meanwhile the hours of loadhsedding have increased in several areas of Pakistan. In Lahore and other major cities, residents are without electricity for up to 14 hours a day while power outages in rural areas can reach up to 20 hours.
A water crisis has also been created in several areas due to loadshedding.
