Austin butler to be cast in Sony's new crime thriller

Austin Butler the Elvis actor, is reportedly set to be the lead in Sony’s acquired Darren Aronofsky’s new crime thriller Caught Stealing, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The synopsis for the film follows, "Hank Thompson, a burned-out former baseball player, as he’s unwittingly plunged into a wild fight for survival in the downtown criminal underworld of ‘90s NYC’."

Oscar-nominated director Aronofsky who will also produce the film said, “I am excited to be teaming up with my old friends at Sony Pictures to bring Charlie’s adrenaline-soaked roller coaster ride to life. I can’t wait to start working with Austin and my family of NYC filmmakers.”

For those unversed, Charlie Huston will write the screenplay, which is based on his own book under the same title.

The Variety reported that Sony Pictures’ Motion Picture Group president, Sanford Panitch said, “Darren is one of the most brilliant audiovisual storytellers in the world, and adapting these wonderful books by Charlie Huston for Austin to star was too exciting an opportunity to not be a part of,”

For those unversed, since Butler's role in the film Elvis, he hasn’t turned his back. He was recently casted with Ryan Gosling in Dune: Part Two as well.
