Netflix revealed plans for a new show inspired by Agatha Christie's The Seven Dials Mystery.

The streaming giants announced to adapt the fan-favourite mystery novel from the 'bestselling novelist in history’ and ordered Chris Chibnall, who also wrote for Doctor Who, to pen the screenplay while Suzanne Mackie, executive producer of The Crown, will produce the upcoming mini-series.

The story, penned by the Queen of Mystery novels, revolves around a party where a practical joke on a heavy sleeper goes chillingly, murderously wrong.

In this suspenseful story, a heavy sleeper named Gerry Wade wakes to an unusual prank by his housemates. But the light-hearted joke soon spirals into a dark and dangerous investigation, full of twists.

“Gerry Wade had proved himself to be a champion sleeper, so the other houseguests decided to play a practical joke on him. Eight alarm clocks were set to go off at equal intervals. But when morning arrived, one clock was missing and the prank backfired with tragic consequences”, the synopsis read.

Addressing the exciting news, Anne Mensah, VP of Netflix added, "Agatha Christie’s storytelling has been thrilling mystery lovers for generations but there is still more for us to explore for audiences at Netflix."

Mackie also shared her enthusiasm for the live adaptation and shared, “I am excited to be bringing The Seven Dials Mystery to life, and to be introducing a new generation of iconic Christie characters to the screen.”

Helmed by Chris Sweeney of The Tourist, the series will begin production this summer, although a release date is yet to be announced.
