Inter Miami star Lionel Messi could become a co-owner of his own club along with existing co-owner David Beckham, Euro Sport reported, citing a report by The Sun.

The 36-year-old Argentine footballer has been a prized possession for his team as the former Barcelona star changed the face of his team with 16 goals in 19 appearances since he joined the Major Leage Soccer.

He also led his team to their first ever trophy, which was the Leagues Cup in 2023.

However, a report by The Sun claims that Messi could be about to help improve the club off the field as well.

The report said: "Lionel Messi could become a co-owner of Inter Miami alongside David Beckham - using a very familiar clause.

Messi took his career to America last year after walking out on French champions PSG and snubbing a move to Saudi Arabia."

The report continued to explain how Jorge Mas, the man who convinced Messi to join the American soccer club, was "majority owner of Inter Miami" and was also the one who appointed Beckham club president.

According to The Sun, the package offered to Messi at the time also gave him the option "to take part ownership of the club without needing a buy-in exercised."

The report recalled that Beckham had a similar option when he ditched Real Madrid to move to LA Galaxy in a high-profile transfer in 2007.

"Messi's option instead gives him direct ownership in just Miami."
