Before Justin Bieber, Luis Fonsi had THIS singer in mind for 'Despacito'

Luis Fonsi had another artist in his mind for Despacito besides Justin Bieber.

Daddy Yankee‘s track turned out to be the biggest song of 2017, and it received much more hype because the 30-year-old artist was in the mix.

During a recent interview, Luis now opened up about how they executed the major remix while recalling his first attempts to get Ariana Grande involved in the song too.

During a conversation with The Interview with Yordi Rosado podcast, Luis explained that Justin listened to Despacito while they were on tour and was interested in becoming a part of it.

The Peaches hitmaker then reached out to his then-manager Scooter Braun and seeked his assistance in getting him the gig.

But to his surprise, Scooter already knew about the song.

“We had talked to Scooter Braun, because he also managed Ariana Grande, and we told him it’d be cool to have her on the song. I don’t know why, but nothing ever really happened,” Luis stated, according to Pop Crave.

Luis is still glad for Justin’s contribution to the song as he has previously talked about the artist’s effort to sing in Spanish.

“The funny thing is we actually have a version of the song fully recorded in English, and he knew that. Instead of using that, he decided to use the Spanish version, even though he doesn’t speak Spanish himself and made sure he was phonetically pronouncing the words correctly,” he shared in a 2017 issue of #legend.
