Taylor Swift's 'The Handmaid's Tale' cameo truth revealed by Elisabeth Moss

Speculation ran wild earlier this week as fans of The Handmaid’s Tale became convinced Taylor Swift had made a surprise cameo in the penultimate episode of season six, but series star Elisabeth Moss has officially debunked the claim.

The rumor ignited after a mysterious figure stepped out of a car during a Mayday rebellion scene, with Swifties believing the silhouette resembled the 35-year-old pop icon.

Fueling the frenzy, the scene was set to Look What You Made Me Do (Taylor’s Version), and fans quickly pointed to past sightings of Moss and co-star Bradley Whitford at one of Swift’s concerts in Toronto, where the show is filmed.

However, during an interview with TVLine, Moss laughed off the speculation, saying, “Of course it’s not her. Oh my God, that’s hilarious. I love that idea, though.” She added, “I feel like if she was going to come do our show, we would’ve made sure we saw her face.”

Moss, who also directs on the series, did reveal she's long been a Swiftie and had been hoping to use Swift’s music on the show.

Additionally, she told Billboard, “There could not be a more perfect song for a more perfect moment. As a Swiftie myself — and I think I can speak for Yvonne [Strahovski] and our entire cast — it’s such an honor to be able to use her music in the final episodes of our show.”
